The Life of Henri Lebasque
Born in 1865 in Champigné, France, Henri Lebasque trained at the École des beaux-arts in Paris and became a key figure in the artistic movement of the Belle Époque. His travels, particularly to the Côte d’Azur, influenced his style, which is characterized by the use of bright colors and natural light to depict scenes of everyday life, landscapes, and portraits. Although he was in contact with artists such as Henri Matisse and André Derain, he remained true to an aesthetic that prioritizes softness and harmony.
