Félix Ziem : an artist between tradition and modernity
Félix Ziem, born in 1821, was a French painter who managed to move between classical and modern styles. Although he is mainly known for marine landscapes, his still lifes—like the one with the pumpkin—show his skill in capturing light and color. Influenced by the old masters, Ziem also incorporated contemporary elements into his work, which helped him stand out in the artistic scene of the 19th century. His work reflects a unique sensitivity to the beauty of form and color, making him an indispensable artist of his time.
