It coils around the stems of hammock viper’s-tail (\u003cem\u003ePentalinon luteum\u003c\/em\u003e), a plant labelled in the original plate as \u003cem\u003eApocynum scandens\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eNatural history and composition\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe snake’s long curve crosses the plate diagonally, while narrow leaves, yellow flowers and two elongated fruits organise the surrounding space.
