About the artwork

Discover the story behind this artwork

This vintage poster commemorates the first centenary of the canton of Vaud, celebrated in 1903. It depicts a young boy standing on a hill, proudly holding a green and white flag with radiating patterns. The scene is framed by a bright red border bearing the dates "1803" and "1903," symbolizing 100 years of existence. The Vaud festival highlighted features several events, including a grand historical parade and illuminations. With 2,500 participants and an amphitheater capable of hosting 18,000 spectators, this large-scale event took place in Lausanne over three days, from Saturday, July 4th to Monday, July 6th, 1903. The poster also includes a poetic excerpt signed by E.J. Dalcroze. Its design, marked by an old graphic style, makes it a unique piece for wall decoration, ideal for enthusiasts of history, vintage posters, and Swiss souvenirs. This colorful and authentic print can enhance any interior space, adding a cultural touch and a vintage accent. Its composition and illustrations narrate the significance of this Vaud celebration, perfect for highlighting a wall with an original artwork rich in historical emotion.
