Napoleon I in Coronation Robes follows the official portrait designed in 1805 by François Gérard (1770–1837). Its success led Gérard and his workshop to produce many versions. The documented version at the Château de Fontainebleau dates from 1805–1811 and is an oil on canvas measuring 225 × 147 cm.
Napoleon stands in the grand robes worn for the coronation of 2 December 1804. The laurel wreath, purple ermine-lined mantle, eagle-topped sceptre, crown and Hand of Justice combine antique, royal and imperial references. Commissioned in 1805 by Talleyrand for the audience room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this model became one of the new sovereign’s official images.

Our frames measure 1.7 cm on each side. For a 40x60 cm painting, the total framed size is therefore 43.4 x 63.4 cm.
Canvas 100% polyester (285 g/m²), UV-resistant and solvent-free inks, safe for children and allergy sufferers. The canvases are mounted on a 2 cm thick wooden frame (4 cm for very large formats).
