About the Portrait of Miguel de Azcuénaga
Prilidiano Pueyrredón painted the Portrait of Miguel de Azcuénaga in 1864. This oil on canvas measures 126 × 100 cm, bears inventory number 3190 and belongs to the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires. It depicts Miguel José de Azcuénaga, a notary and friend of the artist.
A portrait connected to the history of Buenos Aires
Azcuénaga commissioned Pueyrredón to design his residence at Olivos, which later became the official residence of Argentina’s president. The painting was one of the few portraits Pueyrredón exhibited during his lifetime, at the Fusoni naval warehouse, then a regular venue for art exhibitions in Buenos Aires.

Seated in three-quarter view in a black suit, Azcuénaga looks directly at the viewer. His arm rests on a desk holding papers and a writing set, references to his profession as a notary. His dark silhouette stands against a grey-green background, while warm light on the face and hands anchors the composition.

Our frames measure 1.7 cm on each side. For a 40x60 cm painting, the total framed size is therefore 43.4 x 63.4 cm.
Canvas 100% polyester (285 g/m²), UV-resistant and solvent-free inks, safe for children and allergy sufferers. The canvases are mounted on a 2 cm thick wooden frame (4 cm for very large formats).
