Portrait of Mary Tighe (1772–1810) – George Romney
Mary Tighe is shown half-length, turned towards the left. Her long brown hair falls on either side of her face beneath a white headdress. Her pale dress, crossed hands resting on a dark red support and warm reddish-brown background create a restrained tonal harmony.
George Romney painted this oil on canvas around 1794–1795. Measuring 77 × 63 cm, it is numbered NGI.1164 at the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin, which purchased it in 1948.
The sitter is Mary Tighe (1772–1810), an Anglo-Irish poet best known for Psyche; or, the Legend of Love. An early nineteenth-century miniature attributed to John Comerford, based on Romney’s portrait, is held by the National Portrait Gallery in London.

Canvas 100% polyester (285 g/m²), UV-resistant and solvent-free inks, safe for children and allergy sufferers. The canvases are mounted on a 2 cm thick wooden frame (4 cm for very large formats).
