About the print Our Boy
Our Boy is a nineteenth-century American colour print. Its title appears in the lower margin beside a copyright notice dated 1874 and naming M. O’Brien & Co. As no individual artist has been identified with certainty, O’Brien & Co. is described here as the publisher or rights holder credited on the sheet, rather than as a painter.
A portrait of a child
The image shows a young child with curly brown hair, seen half-length against a plain olive-brown background. The child wears a pale ruffled garment, holds one arm across the chest and rests the index finger of the other hand on the lips. The slightly turned gaze and asymmetrical pose animate the portrait.
Evidence of the printing process
The reproduced sheet retains its pale border, title, copyright line and a row of small colour rectangles along the lower margin. These marks preserve evidence of the image’s material production and distinguish the complete print from a tightly cropped portrait.

Our frames measure 1.7 cm on each side. For a 40x60 cm painting, the total framed size is therefore 43.4 x 63.4 cm.
Canvas 100% polyester (285 g/m²), UV-resistant and solvent-free inks, safe for children and allergy sufferers. The canvases are mounted on a 2 cm thick wooden frame (4 cm for very large formats).
