René de Rabi, master of the naturalist gaze
René de Rabi belongs to the lineage of naturalist illustrators whose work is rooted in the tradition of atlases and natural history collections from the 18th and 19th centuries. Influenced by scientific rigor and the aesthetic of observational drawing, he prioritizes the precision of the line and the clarity of contours, reminiscent of the engravers of the era. His plates are appreciated for their documentary value as much as for their graphic beauty.
