3 works

This collection of Joseph-Ferdinand Lancrenon art reproductions brings together three compositions by the French painter: two mythological subjects and one religious scene. Their movement, lighting and colours offer different choices for your interior.

Boreas Abducting Oreithyia

The reproduction of Boreas Abducting Oreithyia shows Boreas carrying Oreithyia through a cloudy sky. Dark wings, a yellow veil and white drapery emphasise the group’s ascent within the vertical format.

Philemon and Baucis Receiving Jupiter and Mercury

The reproduction of Philemon and Baucis Receiving Jupiter and Mercury presents a group gathered indoors. The standing central figure and the seated figure on the right organise the scene around a table, in warm, dark tones.

The Apotheosis of Saint Genevieve

The reproduction of The Apotheosis of Saint Genevieve shows the saint dressed in blue among clouds, surrounded by winged figures and stringed instruments. Golden light contrasts with shadows in the lower part of the composition.

Lancrenon’s background and subjects

Joseph-Ferdinand Lancrenon was born in Lods in 1794. He trained in Paris under François-André Vincent and then Anne-Louis Girodet.

In this selection, Oreithyia’s dramatic ascent, Philemon and Baucis’s indoor encounter and Saint Genevieve’s luminous elevation belong to different registers. Compare the story, movement and light rather than assuming every work has the same palette or atmosphere.

Choosing the material and size

Posters and canvas prints offer different effects. The products sold are printed reproductions, not the original paintings.

The materials actually offered are listed on each product page. Choose the material first, then the size and, where available, a frame. Do not assume a bespoke size is included. Contact us before ordering to check feasibility, price and the terms for a personalised product.

Matching the artwork to your interior

In a living room, allow space around a densely composed work so its details can be read. In a hallway or beside a bookcase, a vertical work can echo the lines of the furniture.

Colours on screen vary with device settings and lighting. A print also looks different from a backlit image.
